about Seth
Music has been an essential part of life for Seth since he was a child singing and playing numerous instruments until age 12 when he found the bass. Thanks to his life in music he has travelled the world performing and teaching and has worked with some of the most influential artists in jazz as well as performing on Broadway, in Las Vegas shows and regularly appearing at some of the greatest jazz clubs in New York City, including Smalls, Smoke, Dizzy’s Club CocaCola, and The Iridium. Seth has collaborated with many artists, including Mulgrew Miller, Louis Hayes, Eric Alexander, David Hazeltine, Jerry Dodgion, Randy Brecker, Sheila Jordan, Dee Dee Bridgewater and many others. His mentors include the late Bob Cranshaw and Ron Carter, two of the most recorded bassists in history.
Seth has been recognized with grants from the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University and the University of Northern Colorado. Seth has been a member of multiple Downbeat student music award winning groups while he attended some of the most respected institutions in the field of jazz education and earned degrees from the Hartt School of Music and William Paterson University. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree and holds a teaching assistantship at the University of Northern Colorado. Seth has been a counselor at the Stanford Jazz Workshop for several years and Seth has previosuly taught at the Hartt School of Music, The Artists Collective, Newark Academy and the Litchfield Jazz Camp. Music is a gift that is meant to be shared and Seth is grateful for the continued opportunities he has to bring music to new audiences.
