Meet Seth Lewis
A New Hampshire native, Seth was introduced to jazz at Clark Terry's annual UNH jazz festival where he met Jimmy Heath, Ray Brown, Bud Shank, James Williams, and Mr. Terry himself.
While in high school, Seth studied with John Lockwood, bass professor at the
New England Conservatory (NEC). After high school Seth attended the Hartt School of
Music, Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, and studied with Jackie McLean, Nat Reeves, Steve
Davis, and Jimmy Greene, graduating in 2006.
Currently Seth resides in
New York City and studies with Bob Cranshaw, Ron Carter, and Hank Jones.
Seth has performed with Hank Jones, George Coleman, Winard Harper,
Antoine Roney, Jimmy Greene, Joe Farnsworth, Steve Davis, Mike DiRubbo, Neal
Smith, Mark Gross, and others.
Seth has also taught at very prestigious
institutions including the Hartt School, the Artists Collective, and the
Litchfield Jazz Camp. Seth's private students have gone on to receive full
tuition scholarships at some of the top jazz universities including Berklee and
the Hartt school.
